LEARNING HOW TO LEAD WITH LOVE

Listen attentively, Observe mindfully, Value authentically, Encourage positively

What’s love got to do with it anyway? Almost everything!

What if we could learn to position our leadership and influence from the perspective of LOVE?  We could begin to do so by strategically learning how to lead with love by using the following acronym: Listen, Observe, Value, Encourage

5 ways to listen well

By actively listening to our team members, we create an environment where their ideas and concerns are valued. It builds trust, strengthens communication, and fosters a sense of belonging. Listening goes beyond hearing words or crafting our response. It's about truly understanding and connecting with others, in both our personal and professional lives.

Here are 5 practical tips to listen well.

  1. LISTEN WITH AN OPEN MIND: By listening with an open mind, without judgment, and with empathy, we show genuine care and respect for their experiences.

  2. BE PRESENT: Paying attention to body language adds another layer of understanding, allowing us to grasp the unspoken emotions.

  3. STAY CURIOUS A LITTLE BIT LONGER:  Approach conversations with a genuine desire to learn and understand, not just to say what we want to say.

  4. ASK GOOD QUESTIONS: Asking good questions, rather than rushing to offer advice, encourages deeper reflection and conversation.

  5. GIVE ADVICE A LITTLE MORE SLOWLY:  This is often difficult because we have been conditioned to solve problems and maximize our time.  Therefore, we are often rushing to offer advice instead of coaching the person to reflect long enough to get to the solution on their own.

Know yourself to lead yourself. Learning to observe your behaviors to develop self awareness.

Taking the time to observe and understand other’s unique strengths and perspectives allows us to leverage their talents effectively. It promotes inclusivity, encourages diverse thinking, and leads to innovative solutions.

Do you know what it's like to be on the other side of yourself? Being self-aware is key to understanding how you show up in life. It is fundamental to personal and professional leadership and growth.

Recognizing and appreciating our team's contributions, skills, and efforts not only boosts morale but also creates a culture of appreciation. When employees feel valued, they are more motivated, engaged, and enthusiastic about their work.

Each and every one of us possesses inherent value, with our own set of unique gifts and talents. We were designed for a purpose, and when we embrace our individuality we allow others to show up uniquely and authentically in their gifts, as well.

Providing positive encouragement and support to our team members empowers them to unleash their full potential. It fosters growth, builds confidence, and cultivates a collaborative and uplifting work environment. Contrary to popular believe this form of encouragement is not empty compliments, but feedback that both supports and challenges another toward growth.

Encouragement is the catalyst that sparks growth and strengthens the fabric of our relationships. As leaders, let's recognize and celebrate others to create a culture of support and collaboration that propels us all forward.
